AV PARTNER: Mercian Events Limited
Over the years, Opening Doors & Venues have developed very strong relationships within the county, taking pride in producing local events. This year we were, once again, invited by Worcestershire Apprenticeships Hub and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, to deliver the 8th Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards. The evening’s celebrations recognised the exemplary efforts of all schools, colleges, training providers, and employers in delivering and supporting apprenticeships in the county, as well as the apprentices’ achievements and resilience.
Working with the client’s request to be more sustainable, £500 was donated to the Queen’s Green Canopy to mark the Platinum Jubilee and the sad passing of the Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The money provided trees for planting on the campus grounds at a local Worcester School, benefitting current and future generations as well as creating a legacy in honour of the 70-year reign of HM Queen Elizabeth II
With more than 300 attending the awards, it was wonderful to welcome everybody back in-person after the virtual live-streamed edition of November 2021. The evening, with a welcome drinks reception and delicious 3-course meal, had guests dressed in black tie and evening gowns in the unusual TreeTops venue. The table centres, in line with the sustainability theme, were mini bay trees lit up with a small string of LED lights. These were given new homes by the lucky winners of a fun Table Bingo interlude. Other winners received family tickets for the Safari Park.
The evening’s host, well-known media entrepreneur, podcaster, writer and performer, Cally Beaton, said: “Firstly, I would like to say a massive congratulations to all of the finalists and winners at this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards.
“It was a pleasure to be able to host such a positive and passionate celebration event and I enjoyed every minute of it. Worcestershire should be extremely proud of all those involved in making apprenticeships a success for their ongoing dedication to promoting apprenticeships.”
A grand total of 11 winners were presented with sustainable eco-friendly wooden awards from local manufacturer Awarded2U.
Judith Gibbs, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: "Another year and another awards has gone by, and weren’t we FANTASTIC!!! Thank you all for your efforts to bring this event together and help and support the celebration. Like Worcestershire Apprenticeships it’s such a team effort and I AM proud of us all for making it happen, Kate and Madalina (OD&V) we know it’s more than your day job."
